The Inspectorate of Environment Protection - Dr. Tr. Severin - Mehedinti is a public institution, financed by the state budget, with legal personality subordinated to the Minister of the Water and Environment Protection.

The Inspectorate of Environment Protection acts in accordance with the provisions of the Environment Protection Law no. 137/1995 and Governmental Decision no.104/1999, relating to the organization and functioning of the Minister of the Water and Environment Protection, as well as the other related laws and normative documents.

The Inspectorate of Environment Protection Drobeta Turnu Severin represents the vector that supervises all the environment factors, according to the curent legislation and applies the strategy relating to environment protection with the well known principles :

In our labs, we are performing examinations relating to the quality of:

ground.

Also, it is measured the radioactivity of medium agents and it is monitoring the industrial and domestic waste.

Taking into consideration the emplacement of the Inspectorate of Environment Protection into the trans-frontline zone, the agency has been equipped with a performing mobile lab, that is monitoring the quality of medium agents.

Within the program "LIFE-NATURA", The Inspectorate of Environment Protection has proposed to the international forums the project " The nature preserving on Cerna-Domogled National Park" regarding the recovery of the park zones destroyed by the fire on 2000th summer.
